A service industry veteran, Becky Sawyer now has her very own place in the former White Eagles Club located at 232 Goulais Ave.
SooToday cameras were at Beck's Bar for its grand opening last Friday, and the place was busy.
"The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is the entertainment concept," Sawyer said.
"Downtown at my previous location (the Dive), I didn't have a lot of space to work with. Now that I have more space, I can actually host bigger bands."
The new space features a raised stage platform along with ample dancing room.
Karaoke nights, dance parties, afternoon and evening performances, a pool table and crib boards "out the wazoo" are just some of the offerings available at the new establishment.
"We've got something every day," Sawyer said.
An avid mixologist, Becky has brought her signature drinks with her to her new place.
"The Solution is a new one that you have to try. We're starting off with a smaller offering of drinks just so my staff has time to master them, then we'll gradually reintroduce some of the classics along with new ones."
When asked what the general vibe of the place would be, Sawyer had a funny but honest answer.
"I am the vibe," she said with a laugh.
"It sounds vain when I say it, but yeah . . . I bring, the energy. I have a very high standard when it comes down to customer service, how people are treated while they're here, and how I expect them to treat my staff.
"When people are walking out of here after last call I want them to say, 'I'll be back tomorrow.'"
Mondays are a chance for customers to feel good about supporting local charities and people in need.
"I am donating five per cent of my revenue between the hours of 2 and 8 pm on a monthly level to a charity of my choosing.
"Our first month, I'm donating to a little guy named Revel because he's going through some hard times," Sawyer said, adding the baby is experiencing health concerns.
Beck's Bar is open from 2 p.m. - 2 a.m., seven days a week.
