'Powerful' Amazon fan with sleep mode is 'perfect for battling bedroom heat'

As we head into the warmer months, many of us are looking forward to the return of ice cream vans and beach trips. However, for some, the prospect of sleepless nights due to the heat is less appealing. Luckily, Amazon shoppers believe they've found a solution in the form of a £60 fan. Customers are full of praise for an Amazon Basics Standing Pedestal Fan, complete with a sleep mode. The 3-speed fan is priced at just under £60. There's also a 12-speed fan priced at just over £73. Together, the fans have received over 2,000 ratings and an average score of 4.6/5, reports the Mirror. The product description for the Amazon Basics Height & Tilt Angle Adjustable Oscillating Digital Dual 3-Blade 3-Speed Standing Pedestal Fan with Remote Control says: "Enjoy cooling comfort with this AmazonBasics Pedestal Fan. "Whether you need to cool down quick on a hot summer's day or simply get some extra air circulating on warmer nights, this fan is the simple, effective and reliable solution." It adds: "Assemble in minutes. "No tools needed. 3 speed fan with 3 modes: nature, sleep and normal. With 7.5-hour timer. With patented dual-blade design to generate up to 15% more air than conventional single blade fans." (Image: Amazon) One happy reviewer commented: "I was sceptical at first because it's from Amazon Basics, but this fan is anything but basic!" They added: "It’s powerful enough to cool down even the hottest nights, and the adjustable speed settings let me customise it to just the right breeze. The design is sleek, and it doesn’t take up much space, so it’s perfect for my bedroom. "Whether it's summer or just a particularly warm evening, this fan is a total game changer. It runs quietly too, so I can sleep through the night without being disturbed. If you’re looking for a fan that gets the job done and then some, this one exceeds expectations." Someone else agreed: "I have repeatedly bought expensive fans in the hope they would last longer, or be quieter etc. every time they have not lasted a year at best, this includes Honeywell and ProBreeze, which it’s impossible to get replacement parts for, so this time I opted for Amazon basics, and I have to say it is powerful, quiet and has a remote that includes oscillating. "You can’t ask for more in a fan and it’s half the price. It also looks great too. The only slight niggle is that the remote doesn’t have a long distance, you need to be close to use it. I use it in my bedroom and the remote is sufficient in there so I have no issue. Don’t pay £70 or £80 for a fan that is half as good as this one!" However, not all feedback was positive. A different shopper wrote: "This fan is just simply too loud. Now it will keep you cool no doubt but it is really loud and distracting and just not enjoyable to have in the background either during the day or at night. "The different 'modes' are a joke as well - the nature mode oscillates between really fast and really slow and doesn't feel natural at all. The 'night' mode however is the real disappointment. "It is exactly the same as the 'nature' mode! It oscillates between really fast and really slow! That makes it incredibly annoying and loud at night and impossible to sleep to." Another added: "If you check other people review, there are many people also said the same thing, the sleep mode doesn’t work. The sleep mode suppose to be really quiet, but it function like natural mode, sometime strong, sometime weaker. I want to return it as it is very loud at night." Alternatively, Boots offers a Silentnight Home Electricals Airmax 1800 Stand Fan on sale for £40.50, Shark offers a Shark FlexBreeze Portable Fan FA220UK discounted to £179, and Debenhams offers a 40" Bladeless Tower Fan - Powerful Airflow, 5 Operating Modes & 60 Degree Oscillation on offer for £119.99.
