CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- In a strategic move aimed at enhancing their offense, the Carolina Panthers have confirmed the signing of veteran wide receiver Hunter Renfrow to a one-year deal. This decision comes on the heels of the NFL draft, where the Panthers made a significant investment in their receiving lineup by selecting two new receivers, including Tetairoa McMillan from Arizona, who was picked at the No. 8 overall spot.

Hunter Renfrow, a 29-year-old player with deep roots in the Carolinas, hails from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and gained prominence during his college football career at Clemson University, less than three hours from Charlotte. Renfrow is making his return to the league after sitting out the previous season, seeking to re-establish his position in the NFL.

Over his five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, Renfrow showcased his talent, recording a total of 269 receptions, which led to 2,884 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. His most notable performance came in 2021 when he earned a Pro Bowl selection after an impressive campaign that included 103 catches and 1,038 yards, marking a breakout year for the athlete.

With Renfrow joining the Panthers, he will be part of a diverse receiving group that features the new draft picks, including McMillan and sixth-round selection Jimmy Horn Jr. from Colorado, alongside first-round pick Xavier Legette for 2024. The team also boasts experienced players like 34-year-old Adam Thielen and Jalen Coker, establishing a mix of youth and veteran leadership.

Renfrows journey in the NFL began when he was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 draft by the Raiders. He signed a two-year, $32 million contract extension in 2022, reflecting the team's confidence in his abilities. However, his recent seasons have been marred by injuries; a concussion forced him onto injured reserve, limiting his contributions to just 36 receptions for 330 yards. In the 2023 season, he managed to catch 25 passes for 255 yards before being released by the Raiders on March 13, 2024.

With this latest addition, the Panthers clearly aim to provide their promising third-year quarterback, Bryce Young, with a reliable arsenal of receivers, potentially enhancing their overall offensive performance in the upcoming season.
