Petros Krommidas, a 29-year-old Democratic candidate for the Nassau County legislatures 4th District, has been missing since April 23, 2023. According to the Nassau County Police Department, his last known whereabouts were in Baldwin, New York. Krommidas was last seen wearing a camouflage print sweatshirt and gray sweatpants, and authorities believe he may be in the vicinity of Long Beach, New York.

In a heartfelt plea, Krommidas' sister, Eleni-Lemonia Krommidas, implored the community to continue searching for her brother. Please keep searching. We need to find him, she stated in a public message on Tuesday, hoping to raise awareness and accelerate the search effort.

Family members provided details of his last known activities, indicating that Krommidas parked his car near the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach around 10:30 p.m. on the night of his disappearance. He locked his vehicle, took his towel, and headed to the beach for what was routine exercise. This was not an unusual activity for him, as he was known for maintaining an active lifestyle.

The family emphasized Krommidas' commitment to fitness, noting that he had ambitious plans ahead, including competing in an upcoming triathlon. They reassured the public that he was familiar with cold water training, which they hope might lend a clue to his current situation.

Reports indicate that on April 24, the day after he was reported missing, Krommidas' belongingsincluding his towel, clothing, and phonewere discovered left on the beach. This discovery has heightened concerns, as his family described his silence as completely out of character for him. They expressed their worries, stressing that Krommidas would typically respond to messages and keep in touch with loved ones.

In response to his disappearance, the search efforts have been robust. Family members and local volunteers are encouraged to scour the beaches, particularly the stretches between Long Beach, Lido Beach, and Jacob Riis Park, during high tide periods. Every pair of eyes helps. Every step along the beach matters. Thank you for being part of bringing Petey home, the family said, underscoring the importance of community involvement in the search.

Just two days prior to his disappearance, Krommidas was actively engaged with the community, having spoken at a meeting for the Nassau County Young Democrats, which highlights his dedication to both political and civic life.

The Nassau County Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding Krommidas whereabouts to come forward and assist investigators. Individuals with any leads are encouraged to contact the Missing Persons Squad at 516-573-7347.
